A Storeganise alternative built around the item, not the unit

Storeganise grew up in self-storage and added valet. Stowley starts from the thing you are holding: every box, crate, case, or chair has a photo, a rack location, a condition history, and a billing line. If your business is pickups, deliveries, and items you keep for clients, here is how the two compare.

Why operators look

Why operators look for a Storeganise alternative

Storeganise is a capable platform, and for a self-storage facility that also runs a valet service it is often the right one. Its pricing follows that heritage: you pay by the number of locations and the number of units, and the exact figure comes as a quote. For an operator whose inventory is items rather than units, that model fits awkwardly, and the unit-centric parts of the product (move-ins, access control, unit maps) go unused.

The operators who come to us from a Storeganise evaluation usually want four things. Items as the first-class record, with photos and a location for each one. Business and collector clients with their own strictly scoped portal, not a consumer booking flow. Service requests that go beyond collection and drop-off: inbound receiving, pulls, shipping with labels, deliveries with proof, and on-site jobs. And a published flat price they can budget against.

That is what Stowley is. It is not a self-storage management system, it does not run gates, and it will not optimize a driver's route. It is the operating record for an item-based storage and logistics business, with the billing and the client portal built in.

Fit

An honest fit check

Stay with Storeganise if

  • You run a self-storage facility and valet is one service among several.
  • New customers need to sign up and book a pickup from your public website without talking to you.
  • You need gate, smart-entry, or access-control integrations.
  • You want driver assignment and route management inside the same tool.
  • Per-unit pricing is a natural fit for how you think about capacity.

Pick Stowley if

  • Items, not units, are what you track and bill for.
  • Your clients are businesses, designers, galleries, or collectors who need a portal scoped to their own items.
  • You also do moving storage-in-transit, white-glove delivery, fine art, AV rental, or 3PL work.
  • You need condition reports, damage maps, and item-by-item proof of delivery.
  • You want flat published pricing by plan, with no per-unit math and no setup fee.

Switching

Moving from Storeganise

Export customers and items from Storeganise as CSV. Import clients into Stowley first, then inventory; the importer links each item to its client by name, matches column headers loosely, and keeps anything it does not recognize as a custom field so nothing is dropped.

You preview every row before it is written. Open balances come across as starting-balance invoices so the first billing day in Stowley is right. Most valet operators are cut over in an afternoon.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is Stowley a self-storage management system like Storeganise?
No. Stowley has no unit map, gate or access-control integrations, or public move-in flow. If you rent storage units to the public, Storeganise or Stora is the better fit. Stowley is for operators who hold individual items for clients: valet storage, wine storage, storage-in-transit for movers, white-glove delivery, fine art, AV rental, and boutique 3PLs.
Can my customers sign up and book online the way Storeganise allows?
Not from a public page. You add a client in Stowley and invite them to their portal. Once inside, they see every item you hold with photos, submit pull, delivery, and inbound requests, message your team, pick delivery windows on Premium and up, and pay invoices. The model is built for business and collector clients you already have a relationship with, not anonymous consumer sign-ups.
Does Stowley have driver and route management?
Stowley has an interactive schedule with crew assignments (Advanced and up), a day view for the truck, item-by-item proof of delivery with signatures and photos, and opt-in text updates to the client. It does not optimize routes. Teams that need routing keep a routing app alongside Stowley.
How is Stowley priced compared with Storeganise?
Storeganise prices by the number of locations and units and gives an exact quote on request; the sample on their calculator starts around $90 a month. Stowley is a flat monthly plan: Basic $69, Advanced $199, Premium $399, or Enterprise custom, with annual billing from $49, $149, and $349. Plans differ by item cap (1,000, 5,000, 15,000, unlimited) and by features, not by how many rack positions you own.
Can I move my data out of Storeganise?
Yes. Export your customers and items to CSV, then use the Stowley importer: clients first, then inventory. Column names are matched loosely, every row is previewed before it is written, photos come across when the export carries image URLs, and open balances can be loaded as starting-balance invoices. If you would rather not touch a spreadsheet, send us the export and we load it for you.
Which Stowley plan replaces what I use in Storeganise?
Most valet operators land on Premium: recurring billing with Stripe auto-pay, a white-labeled portal, client self-scheduling, reports, and QuickBooks or Xero invoice files. Advanced covers teams who invoice manually but want the self-service portal, interactive schedule, condition reports, text notifications, and ShipStation. Basic is a single-warehouse starting point with a view-only portal and manual invoicing.
